Residential Service Contracts

A Residential Service Contract — also known as a Home Warranty — is meant to protect the home owner from unexpected large repair bills.   It is generally a contract to maintain, repair or replace all or any part of the appliances, structural components, electrical, plumbing, heating, or air conditioning systems of residential property. A residential service contract traditionally offers a home warranty to the buyer or seller of an existing home in conjunction with the sale or purchase of the property (usually for a term of one-year.)

You can also choose to carry a residential service contract after the first year of home ownership.

Below is a list of some companies licensed to provide residential service contracts in the state of Texas.  I do not have a relationship with any of these companies.   Those listed are a few either I or someone I know has done business with.  A complete list is available from TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission) here.

American Home Shield of Texas, Inc

First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation
